BOSOMTWE MP TO GO UNOPPOSED IN NPP PARLIAMENTARY PRIMARIES-CONSTITUENCY TREASURER HINTS
The New Trust Newspaper has gathered that, the Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum who doubles as the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe constituency in the Ashanti region is likely to go unopposed on the ticket of his party for 2020 general elections.
Even though, the party was yet to come up with a certain timetable for the conduct of its Orphan constituencies (where the party has no Member of Parliament) as well as where the party has sitting members of Parliament (MPs) ahead of 2020 polls.
Already, this paper has in earlier publication indicated how many interested party gurus were testing the waters especially in the Party’s strongholds.
But the statement by Hon.Joseph Asante, the Bosomtwe constituency treasurer of NPP who doubles as an Assembly member for Aputougya electoral area has hinted that, the incumbent MP will be allowed to contest unopposed.
”As far as I am concerned there is no one going to contest Dr.Osei Adutwum in the forthcoming party primaries hence he will go unopposed. If you were in my shoes and you happy to have Ashanti regional Chairman of governing NPP, Ashanti regional Minister as well as Deputy Minister of Education, two ministerial positions will you let one go?
The famous Assembly member who is convener for Works and Housing sub-committee for Bosomtwe Assembly made the revelation on Sikka fm, a local based radio station in Kumasi during its political show program.
The performance of the Assembly member was put on spotlight where reporters of the radio station storm the Aputuogya electoral area and asked the electorates there to access their Assembly member. Hon.Joseph Asante was given high marks by almost all the interviewers as well as those who phone-in during the phone –in segment of the program across the region. They commended the Assembly member for his humility, hard work that has led to the evacuation of aged old refuse dump, improvement of streetlight system, good rapport with the residents among other achievements.
The Assembly member was full of praise to the land lords in the area among other stakeholders as well as the residents of the area for their unflinching support which has led to the construction of 6-unit classroom block for Aputuogya school among others.
The electorates had given him a firm assurance to renew his mandate when the time comes for this year’s unit committee/District level elections.
